Norton Internet Security 2011 review
In a recent worldwide survey involving thousands of people, security stalwart Symantec discovered that around two thirds of us have been victims of cyber crime. Hardly surprising when you consider the company blocked over three billion threats in 2009 alone, through its Norton products.
Symantec updates its Norton AntiVirus and Internet Security suites every year, and today releases the 2011 editions. We’ve had the chance to check out the software and were impressed by how user-friendly it is, while still retaining the depth and functionality that more advanced users will appreciate.
Norton Internet Security 2011 detects and eliminates any viruses, spyware and other threats that attempt to infect your system, and also helps to keep you and your family safe when browsing the internet.
Installation is quick, simple and friendly. If you already have an existing Norton product on your laptop, Internet Security 2011 simply uninstalls it for you and replaces it with the new addition.

Once Norton Internet Security 2011 is installed, it automatically starts up in the background every time your laptop is booted. There’s no noticeable increase in boot time and you could happily continue using your laptop without ever realising it’s installed, unless a discrete pop-up window appears to inform you of a blocked intrusion attempt.
If you want to perform a system scan or a similar task, you can load Norton Internet Security 2011’s dashboard, which contains all the tools you’ll need. This is done through the Windows start menu, or by clicking the desktop icon.

Confusingly enough, Norton Internet Security 2011 actually has all the functionality of Norton AntiVirus 2011, with extra security features for browsing the web thrown in.
This means the Internet Security dashboard contains everything found in the Norton AntiVirus 2011 dashboard (Computer Protection, Network Protection and the Global Map), with an additional ‘Web Protection’ section for safe online browsing.
We’ve discussed the first three sections in our Norton AntiVirus 2011 review, so check that out if you want more info. We’ll limit ourselves to the Web Protection tools in this review.
