All-day battery life for the Asus Eee PC 1000HE

Although it may look familiar, the Asus Eee PC 1000HE promises to shake up the netbook market, thanks to a claimed battery life of a remarkable nine and a half hours.

The biggest change internally is the Intel Atom N280 – updated from the Atom N270. Processing speeds are up slightly – at 1.66GHz vs 1.6GHz, and the latest chip also features a faster front side bus (FSB), promising to offer better performance than previous Asus Eee PCs.

Externally, the 1000HE will be familiar to existing Eee PC owners, although it sports a similar isolated keyboard design to those found on considerably more expensive Sony VAIOs and Apple MacBooks.

802.11n Wi-Fi is integrated, offering the fastest wireless connections currently possible, and you’ll also find Bluetooth in place for wireless data transfers. As with existing Eee PCs, the touchpad supports multi-touch, offering enhanced usability. Prices start at £359 (inc. VAT).
