RIM's Blackberry Curve 8900 may be the ideal solution for those who liked the Blackberry Bold, but were put off by its bulky dimensions. The Curve 8900 features the same style, quality and excellent usability as its larger sibling, but crams it into a smaller, pocket-friendly package.
We’ve not had the chance to get to grips with all of the Curve’s features yet, but first impressions are good. The design is particularly close to the bold, offering a part aluminium construction, glossy plastics with contrasting silver highlights, and one of the best keypads currently available on a smartphone.
The Curve 8900’s keypad is smaller than the Bold’s, but the raised keys still offers great comfort and make it easy to hammer out emails at speed. They also feature ambient backlighting, making it easy to see them at night without compromising on battery life.
The menu is also similar to the Blackberry Bold’s, with a series of shortcuts along the bottom of the main screen, and an easy to access menu with all of the other applications. A rollerball lets you scroll between them, and it’s easily as intuitive as the latest touchscreen phones.

Check back here in the next week to find out how we get on with RIM’s Blackberry Curve 8900, what it’s like to live with, and to find out what features are on offer.
